The client envisioned a decentralized alternative to traditional affiliate marketing. Instead of relying on centralized partner payouts, BitAds uses Bittensor emissions to reward participants who generate verified sales connecting measurable e-commerce performance with a transparent crypto-economic incentive model.

CHALLENGES

  • The network needed to distinguish genuine commercial value from clicks and behavioral metrics that could be artificially manipulated.
  • Stripe did not provide consistent product-level data, requiring a custom attribution model combining JavaScript Pixel tracking with Stripe Connect.
  • Store owners needed protection against refunds, chargebacks, invalid purchases and commissions being deducted before a conversion was fully validated.
  • Moving from fixed conversion payouts to percentage-based commissions required a fundamental redesign of the platform’s financial logic.

UNIQUE FEATURES

Proof-of-Sale Economy

BitAds rewards miners for verified commercial results rather than impressions or clicks. Confirmed sales influence subnet scoring, after which Bittensor distributes alpha-token rewards to participants who generated measurable business value. This removes the need for a traditional centralized affiliate payout system.

Manipulation-Resistant Scoring

Miner performance is calculated using verified USD revenue across campaigns. P95 normalization limits the impact of statistical outliers, CTR is excluded as a manipulation-prone metric, and refunds reduce scores through a multiplicative penalty. The model rewards consistent sales performance—not traffic volume.

Protected Escrow Billing

When a conversion occurs, the commission is locked rather than immediately deducted. After the pending period, funds are either deducted for a valid sale or released following a refund or chargeback. Settings snapshots preserve the conditions active when an order was recorded, preventing future pricing changes from affecting historical conversions.

Pixel-to-Payment Attribution

A custom JavaScript Pixel captures visits generated through miner tracking links, while Stripe Connect verifies subsequent payments. IP-based attribution connects purchases to their original source within a defined attribution window, enabling performance-based billing despite Stripe’s product-level data limitations.
